We’re at the half-way point! Recently, Special Olympics Massachusetts had several supporters and Special Olympics athletes on hand to celebrate the half-way point of construction for the new Yawkey Sports Training Center currently under construction in Marlborough, MA.
The new home of Special Olympics Massachusetts being built by Columbia Construction is now looking like a new home. With walls and stairs and all the items that make up a new building now taking shape, the dream of a new home for Special Olympics here in Massachusetts is quickly becoming a reality. It’s not only the staff that will occupy the building that is excited but everyone throughout the organization is eager to set foot in the new building this fall.
One clear initiative that will set this building apart from an ordinary headquarters is the partnership between Special Olympics Massachusetts and UMass Medical School in Worcester. A key component of the relationship will be the development of an instructor-led curriculum that will seek to improve the delivery of healthcare to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
