Special Olympics Thumbs Up
Regardless if you have experience coaching or not, Special Olympics Massachusetts needs you. You bring the enthusiasm and some knowledge, and we will provide the training you need to be a successful coach.

When you become a coach, you will find the rewards go far beyond the finish line. You will help athletes discover their physical skills, their self-worth, their courage and their capacity to grow.

Being a SOMA coach is one of the most important and rewarding volunteer roles. That is why 1,600 men and women in Massachusetts choose to share their time and talent with SOMA athletes.

To get started, fill out the coach information request form.  We will let you know about coaching opportunities in your area, or you can start a new program.  You can take the online General Orientation/Coaching in SOMA for more detailed information on the philosophy, history and organization of Special Olympics Massachusetts.  The orientation also outlines the SOMA Coaches Education System (CES) and the criteria to be a coach, which can also be found here.
